(Trust us, we're hating the implications of that headline as much as you guys.)
Hey all! It's been a while, almost exactly four months, since our last post on here. Why we've been gone for so long will be the topic of another post, one that will hopefully come sooner rather than later and one that will carry a less unfortunate message than this one. We won't even bother with a bunch of corporate sweet talk:
We'll be delaying the Colibri release planned for July 25 until permissioned data is released.
Blah blah, we're not making this decision lightly, etc. You know the schtick a big company would talk about now, but we want to tell you what went down that made us choose to do this.
Ever since that last post four months ago, we've been hard at work crafting an even better experience for all of you. We've got a lot of new features we've been teasing over the last week, like a new AppView, Roles, Permissions, and honestly, so much more that we'd love to get out the door as soon as possible. But, as we were getting these features ready to be shipped, we noticed we were still missing that extra layer of polish due to the sheer scale. Both feedback from community testers and our own usage of the app revealed both bugs and feature gaps we'd like covered before a larger release.
When we then got into talks with the Bluesky team (yes, THAT Bluesky), it became apparent that if we launched Colibri in the state it is in right now, we'd mess up in a couple of ways.
The Bluesky team offered us the chance to take a step back, be included in the discussions around permissioned data, and be one of the first apps to work with and support it. After three days and three nights of consideration a call with Bluesky and a quick Discord chat among the two lead maintainers, we agreed to delay the launch. As the title says: if NVIDIA can choose to literally un-launch a GPU, if Google can kill a product every two seconds, we can delay a product to make it genuinely better for everyone.

We'll be locking down Colibri for now to make sure that any attention this gets doesn't lead to potential security issues or leaks via Colibri messages. If you've used Colibri before this point in time, you're fine to keep using it, and even try out the beta features on the web client. We wouldn't want to take this from you. If you've not used Colibri yet, you can join our wait list to be notified when we do eventually launch with full private data support.
You can expect further posts from us on socials, updates on features, how the development around permissioned data is going, and what we're up to. And, you can expect a fully stable product as soon as we're live. We're sorry this announcement came so close to a launch many of you anticipated, and we hope you'll stick with us until the full launch of Colibri. Until next time.
